Cooking Lessons

Most visitors to Yangshuo love the local Chinese food. Dining out is a real pleasure and need not be expensive.

For those who love their Chinese food and want to be able to reproduce the same at home there are now several good options for cooking lessons in and around Yangshuo.

Typically, cooking lessons will incorporate a visit to the market so that you can see the ingredients in their raw state. A Chinese market isn't for everyone - but don't worry - the staff know this and will warn you away from distressing sights if they can.

To save time, you normally arrive at the cooking school to find another set of ingredients all prepared and ready for you to use. This gives you the maximum time to learn the processes without chores.

The Yangshuo Cooking School teaches 5 dishes whilst other schools teach 3. Groups can always ask for special menus, so long as they do so in plenty of time.

Your instructor will add interesting details as well as answer any questions you may have. The emphasis is on fun so don't worry too much about your results.

The lessons are timed such that you can enjoy your food at the end - either as lunch or dinner. This social aspect is very important. After all, what is good food without good company.

Yangshuo Cooking School

The Yangshuo Cooking School was the first actual school dedicated to teaching Chinese cooking here in Yangshuo. The Yangshuo Cooking School now has 2 centers, one in the town of Chaolong and one in Yangshuo itself. Both are set in beautiful locations. They have 2 classes each day and teach 5 dishes each time.

Cloud 9 is primarily a restaurant in Yangshuo but also offers dedicated cooking lessons.

There is a chance that if you have a local guide, he/she may be able to show you how to cook a dish or two.
