Date: 30th of Aug, 2019 - Great location, dirty pool and expensive drinks - 3/5 on Tripadvisor

e that a lot of new buildings are build right in front, behind and next to the giggling tree. Staff is really nice and helpfull.
It is nice to have every day a lot of bottels of water in the room. The room is nice, big and clean.
Also it is great to be able to order pancakes for the kids and chat with all the dutch people (feels like a dutch invasion). Continue reading..

Date: 24th of Aug, 2019 - Lovely hotel in the best location - 5/5 on Tripadvisor

Perfect location, great staff and food. Hire the electric scooters or bikes to get around easily. Really recommend this place as the Yulong area is stunning, so much better than saying in Yangshuo town.

Date: 9th of Aug, 2019 - Not so good - 2/5 on Tripadvisor

I’m choosing a bad mark because it’s not so crazy as told in the comments.
The food is good, the place is cool, the swimming pool too.
But it’s really expensive for China.
There are constructions just next to it so you are woken up at 7am.
There is not much light in the rooms and no views on the land. Continue reading..

Date: 4th of Aug, 2019 - Great hotel - 4/5 on Tripadvisor

This is a great hotel in beautiful surroundings. The staff are very attentive and the rooms are nice (no TVs though) but maybe due an update. Food is good and well priced. Lots of tour options from the hotel.

The hotel is no longer owned by a Dutch person.

Date: 20th of Jun, 2019 - Possibly the friendliest guesthouse in China? - 5/5 on Tripadvisor

I stayed here for 2 nights in June 2019. A beautiful quiet location outside Yangshuo in the Yulong River. Converted farm buildings beautifully restored into comfortable cool rooms with a fab social area, restaurant and pool.

The staff were amazing, so friendly, helpful, genuine and caring. Continue reading..

Date: 19th of May, 2019 - Simple country inn - 3/5 on Tripadvisor

I don’t really know how to start. This old country house doesn’t lack charme and the pool is nice and clean and the rooms are ok. But overlooking the pool there is à building and another one under construction. Ok if you turn your back to the buildings you have a lovely view. Our room on the ground floor was confortable but humid . Continue reading..

Date: 21st of Apr, 2019 - The best place to stay in Yangshuo - 5/5 on Tripadvisor

We had 4 perfect days at The Giggling Tree. The hospitality and food was excellent, and the staff were always there to help. Situated in the middle of the National Park-area, sights like Moon Hill and the Water Caves are easy to reach on bike. Continue reading..

Our Story

The Giggling Tree is a “dream come through” for Paulien Leisink (1971, Eefde) and Karst Draaisma (1968, Tytsjerk).

They started to explore the world in 2000. Being youth social workers by profession they spent two years traveling and working in projects in Romania, Ghana, Kenia, Nepal and China.

In 2004 they became tour leaders for a Dutch company. This job brought them back to China and seeing the opportunities of tourism they started searching for the right place for their own guesthouse. In Aishanmen they found the spot that is now the Giggling Tree.

They were able to sign a contract for 15 years with 20 owners of 27 plots.

Renovations took a year and on Friday the 13th of April 2007  the doors opened.
