“The location was outstanding - staying in a quiet and peaceful location in rural China, in an old farmhouse...unbeatable! The rooms are spacious and clean - they give a feel of rural China, but also provide a clean bed, well plumbed toilets, and good showers. The staff are also very helpful and friendly, arranging free bikes or petrol scooters (for a small fee). Continue reading..
Their English is clear and well spoken.” View Less...

“We really enjoyed our staying in this hotel! It's a bit out of the city which we didn't regret at all!! Yangshuo itself was too crowded, so this location was perfect ! The surrounding of the location is unique and beautiful. The staff was really helpful and their English is perfect. Also they have a nice overview with all the activities you can do and you can easily book them at the hotel. Continue reading..
We recommend this hotel to everyone and use the free bike rental to discover the area. We also took the breakfast every morning and diner once which was both really good.” View Less...
Date: 8th of Oct, 2017 - Favorite place in China - 5/5 on Tripadvisor
We arrived here after visiting a few other places in China, and it was very relaxing. The staff are so nice and accommodating, the food is good, and the atmosphere is peaceful. Ronald the owner is actively involved and helpful. Michelle and Sycamore are kind and pleasant!
Date: 8th of Oct, 2017 - Relaxed, welcoming hotel in gorgeous countryside setting - 5/5 on Tripadvisor
This was my second trip to Yangshuo, and we decided to give Outside Inn a go - having eaten here on the previous trip. Chaolong is about 2-3 miles outside Yangshuo, but easily accessible via the (free) bicycles along a lovely canal path ride (15-20 minutes, and good exercise!).
It's in a gorgeous rural setting - the hotel buildings are converted farmhouses, and as such every room is slightly different. Continue reading..
It's not the Ritz - but that's part of its charm. If you're looking for an expensive, sterile, totally western experience devoid of character, then go elsewhere.
The staff are all incredibly helpful and friendly - and all speak English. Ronald - the owner/manager - was exceptionally welcoming, personable and helpful - he took great care of us during our stay. The hotel can arrange airport transportation, as well as a variety of other activities during your stay if you are interested. We did the local light-show, a bamboo rafting trip, as well as a chinese cooking class (pretty much next-door).
Speaking of cooking, the chinese food here is great! We particularly enjoyed the "snoozing dragon" eggplant. There's a selection of western food available too, but I much preferred the local dishes.
Our room was a decent size, and the bed was very comfortable - geared toward western preference, with a nice thick mattress. WiFi was pretty decent too. We whiled away a good few hours just relaxing in the covered outdoor dining area, reading a book and sipping a G&T. Heaven :) View Less...
Date: 1st of Oct, 2017 - Comfty option for the adventurous - 5/5 on Tripadvisor
This hotel is far from downtown Yangshuo but that is part of the beauty of it. Nearby you can ride along the river, swim in it, take a cooking class in one of the neighbor houses, and many other activities. The restaurant is inexpensive and the food is great. Also a great place to get the laundry done after touring China. Continue reading..
My room was big enough, with Wifi, a clean bathroom and A/C. I wished it had better lighting but nothing to be worried about. I liked the fact that this inn is located among houses of local people. Actually to access the hostel you have to go through a basketball court that the locals use a meeting point. You can even play with the locals at night. View Less...

Great place to stay out of the busy center, surrounded by the most beautiful countryside. Easy access to hiking and biking trails. A lovely place to relax with friendly and helpful staff.

We spent a wonderful stay with our 1 year old daughter at the Outside Inn. It was so utterly relaxing we didn't want to leave.
It's within easy reach of Yangshuo town but surrounded by mountains and the Yulong river, where we walked and swam every day.
Ronald and Wendy are fantastic hosts happy to chat and share info about the local attractions. Continue reading..
The food was also delicious. They have western and Chinese food, we loved the snoozing dragon eggplant dish!
Oh yes - and the beds! I haven't experienced such comfort in China... proper thick soft mattresses! View Less...
Date: 23rd of Jul, 2017 - One of the Most Interesting "Hotels" Ever - 5/5 on Tripadvisor
This is a 6 star spot. No, it's not the Hilton; it has no concierge, no elevator, and no room service. It DOES have a friendly, interesting, and helpful staff in a spectacular location and there are surprisingly delightful amenities. It's tucked away in Yangshuo-close to the rivers, the farmland and the famous limestone peaks of Guilin. Continue reading..
The hotel is run by a Dutch couple and maybe one of the best things about it is its Dutch, Italian, Chinese menu. There's apple pie, a Dutch breakfast, pizza, and great local food as well as wine, beer, and juices. The staff is extremely friendly and English speaking. The rooks have good A/C, mosquito nets (although I never SAW a mosquito in 3 days), food curtains, a great hot water shower, and surprisingly good, free wi-fi. The locale is a gem as is the well-run and interesting hotel. View Less...
