in a very quiet and lovely area, far away from to the too noisy and ugly Yangshuo city.

Chinese members of staff are extremely kind, helpful and most of them speak a very good English ! (the Dutch owners were not there when we stayed)

The restaurant is also very good. And having lunch or dinner at this lovely place is just amazing, between this former farm's walls and surrounded by hills. Continue reading..

d farm house. Great service standards and housekeeping. We had several meals and found the food delicious especially Chinese dishes which are by far the best we had in Yangshuo

The tour experiences offered are excellent and prices reasonable so would recommend to leave it in their good hands. Continue reading..

e just returned to Guilin after two nights at The Giggling Tree in Yongshuo, and I'm asking myself, was this place for real?? First of all... *every* single staff member is about as friendly and helpful as you can get. These folks really know what HOSPITALITY means. And talk about convenience--> Christine (who immediately replied to our booking request on their site) set up our whole itinerary in getting there from our hostel in Guilin: she arranged our bus to take us to the boat cruise down the Li River (which she also set up) and had a driver waiting for us at the dock. e that a lot of new buildings are build right in front, behind and next to the giggling tree. Staff is really nice and helpfull.
It is nice to have every day a lot of bottels of water in the room. The room is nice, big and clean.
Also it is great to be able to order pancakes for the kids and chat with all the dutch people (feels like a dutch invasion). Continue reading..

Date: 24th of Aug, 2019 - Lovely hotel in the best location - 5/5 on Tripadvisor

Perfect location, great staff and food. Hire the electric scooters or bikes to get around easily. Really recommend this place as the Yulong area is stunning, so much better than saying in Yangshuo town.

Date: 9th of Aug, 2019 - Not so good - 2/5 on Tripadvisor

I’m choosing a bad mark because it’s not so crazy as told in the comments.
The food is good, the place is cool, the swimming pool too.
But it’s really expensive for China.
There are constructions just next to it so you are woken up at 7am.
There is not much light in the rooms and no views on the land. Continue reading..

Date: 4th of Aug, 2019 - Great hotel - 4/5 on Tripadvisor

This is a great hotel in beautiful surroundings. The staff are very attentive and the rooms are nice (no TVs though) but maybe due an update. Food is good and well priced. Lots of tour options from the hotel.

The hotel is no longer owned by a Dutch person.

Our Story

The Giggling Tree is a “dream come through” for Paulien Leisink (1971, Eefde) and Karst Draaisma (1968, Tytsjerk).

They started to explore the world in 2000. Being youth social workers by profession they spent two years traveling and working in projects in Romania, Ghana, Kenia, Nepal and China.

In 2004 they became tour leaders for a Dutch company. This job brought them back to China and seeing the opportunities of tourism they started searching for the right place for their own guesthouse. In Aishanmen they found the spot that is now the Giggling Tree.

They were able to sign a contract for 15 years with 20 owners of 27 plots.

Renovations took a year and on Friday the 13th of April 2007  the doors opened.
